Pobegi comes to life through Narodni dom Pobegi and its local cultural programme. Narodni dom Pobegi was built in 1903 by members of the local singing and reading society “Ilirija”. The building represents the cultural and social life of Pobegi and Čežarji; cultural and social events were held at Narodni dom Pobegi.

Culture

Kulturno društvo Pobegi - Čežarji is the successor to earlier local cultural societies. At the 2010 municipal celebration, Kulturno društvo Pobegi - Čežarji received an award with the large plaque of the City Municipality of Koper (MOK) for reviving Istrian customs and passing on folk heritage from generation to generation. The local cultural programme includes literary evenings with invited poets and writers, as well as exhibitions of craft tools, products of local handicrafts and visual art.

At Narodni dom Pobegi, Kulturno društvo Pobegi - Čežarji presents local artists.

If you would like to organise culture not as a single programme item but by literature, handicrafts and art, clearly named formats are available side by side. The combination of club activities, customs and exhibitions can be considered separately from individual event dates, without mixing the different forms of expression. The division into literature and exhibitions does not establish a ranking, but keeps the different cultural forms clearly separate.

Events

The local cultural programme also includes cycling trips and sports games. These two forms can be considered independently of the literary and artistic offerings if you would like to compare physical activity and culture in the programme. The traditional Šagra Pobegi - Čežarji includes performances by numerous local music groups, as well as the Črne šagre, at which Slovenian heavy metal bands performed.

Children’s workshops for visitors were announced for the Šagra Pobegi - Čežarji 2026; an extensive food and drink offering for visitors was also announced. When placing the events in time, a distinction must be made between the traditional Šagra and the announced 2026 edition. The different event formats can be considered separately by activity, music, children’s programme and food and drink, without combining them into a single offering.

Remembrance

The monument in Pobegi commemorates 42 fallen fighters and activists, as well as 13 victims of fascist violence from the villages of Čežarji and Pobegi. Anyone wishing to keep festive, artistic and remembrance-related topics separate can read about this aspect independently of the events programme.

For planning your trip to Pobegi, you can compare travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions for hotels separately. Such a comparison keeps cost-related matters clear, while you weigh cultural programme items according to your own interests and place the announced 2026 edition in its proper time frame. The accommodation details thus remain a separate decision level alongside the local programme. In the comparison, you can read the travel dates as a period, the room category as a separate booking detail and the cancellation conditions as a separate condition. These three details remain separate from the cultural and event-related topics described and form an independent comparison level.
