Brada-Rybníček: Hotels and Accommodation

At the summit of Vrch Brada, there is a well-maintained resting place with benches and wide-ranging views of the surrounding landscape. Panels featuring annotated panoramic photographs of the view complement the summit area.

History and Culture

Brada Castle was founded in the 13th century; today, only minor remains survive. A ditch runs along the eastern edge of the Brada Castle grounds, with a rampart in front of it.

A battle of the Austro-Prussian War took place in the cadastral area of Brada-Rybníček on 29 June 1866. The memorial monuments to the 1866 battle near Brada-Rybníček were reconstructed and ceremonially unveiled at a commemorative event.

The early Gothic Church of St. Bartholomew is very well preserved and is considered one of the oldest cultural monuments in the Jičín District.

Landscape

Since 2002, most of the cadastral area of Brada-Rybníček has been located in the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area.

Paths and Routes

The marked cycle route No. 4365 runs through Brada and Rybníček and forms a circular route approximately 23 km long north of Jičín. The seventh day of the Golden Trail of the Bohemian Paradise follows a 26.5 km route from Jičín via Brada and Kbelnice back to Jičín.

The ruins of Brada Castle can be reached via the blue-marked hiking trail in the direction of Jičín – Prachov Rocks.
