Újezd Pod Troskami: Hotels and Accommodations

In Újezd Pod Troskami, on the outskirts of the settlement along the road near the cemetery, stands the Church of Saint John the Baptist. The Neo-Romanesque three-nave building is made of unplastered, regularly hewn sandstone blocks. It was consecrated in 1871; since 1874, it has been considered fully completed.

Culture

Right on the village square, next to the former U Kolářů inn or shop, is the Válečné muzeum Újezd pod Troskami. It presents exhibitions on the Prussian-Austrian War, the First World War, the First Czechoslovak Republic, and the Second World War. The museum also documents seven aircraft crashes from the Second World War and explains them using archival materials, fragments from the crash sites, and contemporary photographs.

Memorials

In Újezd pod Troskami, there is a memorial to the victims of the First World War. It was restored in 2017 and bears the names of local residents who fell in the war. There is also a memorial to the Unknown Soldier by the municipal office in Újezd pod Troskami.

The memorial to the victims of the First World War in Semínova Lhota dates from 1920 and bears a list of the names of fallen residents. A crucifix by the fire station in Semínova Lhota has been protected as a cultural monument since August 31, 2011. The cross in Újezd pod Troskami is designated as a pilgrimage site.

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Čímyšl was rediscovered in Austria near Linz in 2012, returned in a damaged condition, restored, and reinstalled in Čímyšl.

Nature

The Na víně natural monument protects a south- and east-facing steppe slope on a marl substrate; rare and protected plant and insect species occur there.

Annual Events

The Májová pouť takes place annually on the first weekend of May and begins with a mass in the Church of Saint John the Baptist. At the Christmas market held during the first week of Advent, bread with lard and a warmed beverage are traditionally served.
