Hejtmánkovice: Hotels and accommodations

Hejtmánkovice combines a clearly recognizable village layout with an unusual natural history: the meteorite fall associated with the village in 1847 was the third observed fall of meteoric iron in the world.

History and village character

The larger meteorite, with a mass of 23.63 kg, fell on a meadow near Hejtmánkovice and was found immediately by one of the eyewitnesses to the fall.

Hejtmánkovice has the typical structure of a colonization village. One road runs along a watercourse, while the farmsteads lie near the road at the beginning of continuous strips of land belonging to the farmsteads. The village extends lengthwise and has no central core.

A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on the bridge at the entrance to Hejtmánkovice from the direction of Broumov.

Velký lom na Mlýnském vrchu is a significant geological site in Hejtmánkovice featuring Permian volcaniclastic rock from the Olivětín Beds.

A red-marked hiking trail from Broumov to Meziměstí runs along the ridge of Mlýnský vrch in the cadastral area of Hejtmánkovice. Velký lom na Mlýnském vrchu can be reached via this hiking trail or from Hejtmánkovice via a field path along the former cowshed.
