Čilá: Hotels and Accommodations

Čilá is located directly in the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. The village lies in hilly terrain above the right bank of the Berounka River at an elevation of 332 m above sea level. Below Čilá, as far as Roztoky u Křivoklátu, the Berounka has deeply incised banks with rocky sections. Apart from agriculturally used fields and grazed meadows, the surroundings of Čilá are heavily forested; mature mixed forests with beech, oak, spruce, larch, and pine trees predominate.

Trails and Routes

A cycle path runs through Čilá. A red-marked hiking trail also passes through the village, leading in one direction to Rakovník and in the other to Roztoky u Křivoklátu. Čilá offers opportunities for hiking. The northern branch of the Way of St. James runs through the valley below Čilá near Slapnice. In the Czech Republic, this branch leads from Zbraslav near Prague to Železná, where it crosses the Czech-German border at Parku smíření and connects to the route to Nuremberg.

The Čilá–Skryjská jezírka–(Ostrovec)–Zbiroh route leads to the Skryjská jezírka, where hikers can learn more from the educational information panels.

Culture and History

The historic residential and farm buildings in Čilá were built of wood and roofed with thatch. In the center of the village stands a wooden cross at the site where a bell tower once stood. A monument to the victims of the First World War also stands in the center of Čilá.

Skryje is 2.5 km from Čilá and can be reached via a paved road through the valley of the Zbirožský potok (Slapnice) or via a marked hiking trail through the Skryjská jezírka. In the immediate vicinity of Čilá, the distinctive Baroque Church of the Archangel Michael, dating from 1713, stands in Skryje.
