Ostruzno: Hotels and accommodations

Ostružno is located in the Kašperská vrchovina Nature Park and is also the setting of the novel “Světák z Podlesí” by Karel Klostermann. The village therefore combines a literary connection with a landscape of forests, mountain meadows, and expansive views.

Culture and local history

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, dating from 1860, stands in the village square. The former Karel Klostermann School is located below the chapel. It was built in 1874 and is now privately owned. Also dating from 1874 is the beginning of work at the Kokšovy quarry near Ostružno, where small stone blocks began to be quarried for the production of monuments.

The historic villagescape also includes the U Pretlů farmstead, which probably dates from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. At the end of Ostružno in the direction of Albrechtice stands a wayside shrine.

Chapels and wayside landmarks

Before Ostružno, on the road from Sušice to Nezdice, there is a niche chapel. A statue of the Virgin Mary stands in the niche on its front. On the south side of the chapel, a longer poem about unrequited love is attached to a wooden heart. The niche chapel offers a beautiful view to the southeast.

Landscape and views

The landscape around Ostružno comprises deep forests among which mountain meadows stretch. From the surroundings of Ostružno, there are views into the interior of the country as well as of the Šumava Mountains Ždánov and Javorník, both over 1,000 metres high.

Announced theatre festival

For Saturday, 11 July 2026, the 13th edition of the compact theatre festival “Na hrátky!” was announced to take place from 2 p.m. in Ostružno, at the Stodola near Holečkovi.
