Hlohovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Nový zámek is designated as an immovable cultural monument. The fully enclosed complex consists of a château building and utility buildings, which together form a rectangular courtyard. Construction of the unfinished Nový zámek began at the end of the 18th century; the building was modified in the first half of the 19th century.

Culture

The Starý zámek fortress is also part of Hlohovice’s architectural history. It was first mentioned in 1519 and features Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architectural elements. As a building, Starý zámek consists of two wings arranged at right angles to each other, each with its own roof.

History

The Church of the Holy Trinity was built on the western edge of Hlohovice between 1727 and 1734, based on a design by the Baroque architect František Ignác Prée. The presbytery faces west, while the façade faces east. The Church of Saint Martin and the Church of St Peter are also located in the vicinity of Hlohovice.

The historic character of the village also includes smaller memorial sites. At the Doubí memorial site there is a burial mound with a stone cross in the centre, erected in 1847. The memorial site lies on the road from Svinná towards Kamenec, on the right-hand side. In front of the school building in Hlohovice there is also a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1766.

Landscape

The Holý vrch mountain is located in the vicinity of Hlohovice. Nearby are also the Rovnička hill (Radnice u Rokycan) and the Vyhlídka hill (Kamenec u Radnic). In the wider regional area are Mount Hřeben, the Týřov ruins and the Valdek ruins.

Location

Hlohovice lies on road II/233 between Radnice and Zvíkovec. The village lies entirely outside the railway network and has no railway line. No marked hiking or cycling trails pass through Hlohovice.
