Obora: Hotels and accommodations

Obora lies entirely within the Český les Protected Landscape Area. The educational Branka cycle path passes through the municipality, a 17 km circular route with 11 stations. The route is suitable for hikers, cyclists and cross-country skiers; the eleventh station is located at the entrance to Obora.

Another marked route is the Tachov–Pavlův Studenec hiking trail. It is 15.6 km long and classified as moderately difficult.

History

The stone Oborská hájovna lodge stands in the valley of the Sklářský potok stream and was already in existence around 1650. It belonged to a game preserve established by Jan Filip Husmann and can be reached from Obora via a blue-marked hiking trail.

A particularly well-preserved collection of hollow way traces of the Zlatá cesta leads from the hamlet of Hruškovna near Zadní Milíře down into the valley to the Oborská hájovna lodge. Near Obora u Tachova, there is also a medieval country road dating from the 12th to the 16th century.

In the wider area around Obora, the Chapel of Saint Anne at Pavlova Huť was rebuilt in 2017 on the foundations of a chapel erected in 1935. The settlement of Pavlova Huť stood on the Sklářský potok stream; the glassworks that gave it its name were founded around 1743 by Baltazar and Michael Fuchs. The historical site of the Flossenbürg concentration camp is located in the wider area around Obora.
