Libčeves is home to a prominent local landmark, the Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist.
Culture and history
The Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist is a late Romanesque building dating from the 1230s to 1240s. Its presbytery was built at the turn of the 1450s and 1460s. The church nave is single-aisled and dates from the second quarter of the 13th century.
The original fortress of Libčeves Chateau stood near the Romanesque church; the Žerotín family built the chateau in the 14th century at its present location on the hilltop.
