Rýzmburk, also known as Obří hrad or Osek Castle, is one of the most extensive castle complexes in Bohemia. The complex was inhabited and used for approximately 250 years – from the mid-13th century until the beginning of the 16th century.
Culture and Leisure
The Church of St. Peter and Paul in Osek has been a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1964. The present-day Baroque church was built as a completely new structure from 1751 to 1755. Osek Monastery is located in the immediate vicinity of Osek; tours of the monastery include the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the cloister.
The 3D maze in Osek is a two-storey attraction with 14 different rope obstacles and 15 crossing huts. The adventure mini-golf course has nine holes and is located next to the 3D maze. The railway exhibition also includes model railway layouts.
Nature and Landscape
The “Přírodou a dějinami Oseka” educational trail is a 14 km circular route. It starts and ends at the memorial to the Nelson mine disaster and leads to the Salesiova výšina natural monument.
Stropnik Mountain and Vlčí hora Mountain are located in the immediate vicinity of Osek. Bouřňák Mountain and Bořeň Mountain [Bílina-Újezd] are located in the vicinity of Osek. The Purschenstein Castle, Sukoslav Ruins, and Hrad Kysperk Ruins are located in the wider regional area around Osek.
