Podbořany can be explored through several specific themes: history, landscape, activities and water. These themes are reflected in exhibitions, churches, landscape sites, a municipal circular route and a swimming pool.

Culture and history

The Muzeum Podbořany is located in the former town hall at Dukelská 1. The building's present-day Baroque appearance dates from 1751. The exhibition “Hlasy Čechů z Volyně” presents the history of the Volhynian Czech community, from its emigration from Austria-Hungary to the former Russian Empire, through its return to Czechoslovakia, to later developments. Accompanying texts, maps, numerous photographs and memories from eyewitnesses complement the presentation. The “Geologie na Podbořansku” exhibition also includes a fossilized trunk of a horsetail tree discovered in the Podbořansko region.

Kostel sv. Petra a Pavla is a single-nave late Baroque Roman Catholic church with a tower in the western façade, built in 1781. The organ was installed in June 1750. Kostel Božího Spasitele is a pseudo-Romanesque church from the beginning of the 20th century; it was consecrated on November 9, 1902. In Hlubany, Podbořany, lies Vodní tvrz Hlubany, a Gothic water fortress from the second half of the 14th century surrounded by a moat.

Landscape

Vrch Rubín has been protected as a significant landscape feature since September 2, 1993. The mountain was settled for almost 4,000 years, from the Neolithic to the Iron Age, and is considered one of the most significant archaeological sites in northwestern Bohemia.

The surroundings of Podbořany include the Svatý Prokop monument, the Zřícenina Lina ruin, Prokopi Mountain and Kolina Mountain. Rumplák and Valovský vrch are hills in the immediate vicinity of Podbořany. In the wider regional surroundings of Podbořany are Zřícenina Pravda, a ruin, and U Svatého Gotharda, a church.

Activities

The municipal route “Trasa A – Po stopách Schillera” is an 18.4-kilometre circular route from Podbořany via Kryry and Vroutek back to Podbořany.

Městské koupaliště Podbořany has a 50-metre swimming pool and a children's pool.
