Jastrabá – Hotels, Gothic Church and Ostrá hora
In Jastrabá, historic buildings blend with landscape features, hiking trails, springs and viewpoints. As a result, both the history of the village and the special features of its surroundings emerge in clearly defined forms.
Culture
The Church of the Archangel Michael stands within a fortified complex on elevated ground in the centre of Jastrabá. It is an early Gothic building dating from around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Two original Gothic portals and a Gothic tracery window in the presbytery have been preserved at the church.
The village’s sacred architecture also includes two wayside chapels classified differently. The wayside chapel in Jastrabá dates from the late 18th century and is late Baroque. A Neo-Baroque wayside chapel stands in the lower part of Jastrabá. Thus, the buildings mentioned here bring together an early Gothic church and two chapels from later stylistic and historical periods.
Hiking
A yellow-marked hiking trail to Jastrabská skala leads from Bartošova Lehôtka. A hike from Nevoľné to the Jastrabá railway stop takes approximately 2 to 3 hours. A bonfire is built on Chomok on St. John’s Day. The approximate duration of two to three hours indicates the time required for this connection while explicitly remaining an estimate.
Nature
Ostrá hora is a two-peaked basalt hill southeast of Jastrabá. A heart-shaped pond was created at the Ostrohorská spring along the way there. Chomok offers a view over the entire village of Jastrabá.
Ostrá hora has its own flora and fauna. These include Woodsia skalná, nátržník piesočný and skalná ruža, as well as various bird species and forest animals. Rhyolite is the predominant rock in Jastrabá. Thus, the locality brings together information about landforms, a spring, a body of water, viewpoints, plant and animal life, and the predominant rock.
