Ivanice – History, Church and Landscape
Ivanice invites visitors to consider a place not only through individual sights, but in its broader context. This provides travelers with an objective way to explore the history, landscape and practical conditions on site.
History and Church
Ivanice was first mentioned in writing in 1245. During Ottoman rule, the village was partly depopulated. The historical place names Iwan (1245), Ivanfalua (1427), Iwanyi (1786), Ivanovce (1920) and Ivanice (1927) have been recorded for Ivanice. This sequence of names places the written record of the village in context over several centuries. Together with the first mention and the history during Ottoman rule, it creates a chronological framework in which the development of the place name can be traced.
Ivanice is home to a Neoclassical Reformed church, the oldest monument in the municipality. It was built in 1797 and remodeled and adapted in the 20th century.
Landscape
Ivanice lies in the southern part of the Rimavská kotlina Basin, on the floodplain and a terrace of the Blh. The center of Ivanice is located at an elevation of 168 meters.
The unforested municipal area of Ivanice on the terraces of the hilly landscape and the river floodplain consists of Tertiary marls, claystones and sandstones. These are covered by river deposits and loess loams. Ivanice has brown earth, floodplain and gley soils. The geological information distinguishes between the older parent material and the later-mentioned cover deposits. The soil classifications also follow this differentiated description of the municipal area and separately identify brown earth, floodplain and gley soils.
Area and Water
There are no protected areas, large- or small-scale protected areas, bird protection areas, proposed Sites of Community Importance or Natura 2000 protected areas in the cadastral territory of Ivanice.
A groundwater survey by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute for 2023 lists a location called Studňa pri Blhu in Ivanice.
Transport
Regional bus service 060558 runs via Tornaľa, Včelince, Kesovce, Neporadza, Ábovce, Rimavská Seč and Ivanice.
Compare Accommodation

Also pay attention to included services, itemized price components, and booking and cancellation conditions. Compare the offers using the same criteria and note which costs are already included. This makes it possible to objectively compare differences before booking. Particularly when traveling with several people, it is worth checking the stated occupancy and conditions that may change the total price. Also check whether prices are shown for the entire occupancy or per person and whether the selected length of stay is clearly indicated. Different rules for included and additional services should likewise be separately identifiable on the offer pages.
