Jelenec: Church, Museums and Routes to Gýmeš Castle

Jelenec reveals itself through a series of clearly distinct stops. Their significance arises from architectural, historical, natural-history and organizational details – from the shape of a building to arranging a museum visit.

Culture

In the central part of Jelenec stands the Roman Catholic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. It is still in use today and stands amid dense vegetation. Trails

Gýmeš Castle can also be reached via a red-marked hiking trail with a branch onto the green-marked trail through Jelenská gaštanica. In autumn, the chestnut grove should be expected to be closed. The markings and the seasonal note concern different aspects of the same route.

Gýmeš Castle can be reached on foot from the Jelenec-Remitáž recreation centre via red- and yellow-marked hiking trails. The walk takes about one hour. This information describes access from the recreation centre and complements the route through Jelenská gaštanica with a separate starting point.
