Svätoplukovo: Churches, Monuments and Hotels

Svätoplukovo was first mentioned in writing in 1386. The designated places of remembrance include the Trojičné súsošie, erected in 1890 on the grounds of the Catholic church. The statue Socha sv. Urbanka, dating from 1895, stands by the vineyards owned by the municipality. The Morový kríž dates from 1886 and was restored in 1986. The war memorial in Svätoplukovo commemorates the local citizens who served as soldiers and fell in the First and Second World Wars.

Culture and History

The church Kostol Ružencovej Panny Márie is a neoclassical church built between 1833 and 1892. It is in good condition and serves its religious purpose. Its integrated tower houses four bells. The Evangelical church in Svätoplukovo is a late neoclassical church. It was built in 1861 and extended in 1934. Its hall-like interior has flat ceilings, a three-sided termination and an integrated tower. This church is also in good condition and serves its religious purpose.

Another local facility is the Obecná knižnica municipal library. It is located in the post office building and has more than 3,300 books. New readers are welcome; the library offers both nonfiction and fiction for adults and children.

Landscape

The cadastral area of Svätoplukovo consists mainly of arable land and vineyards. A small part is made up of two forests. The Mlynský potok and Cedron streams flow through Svätoplukovo. Two artesian wells are also part of the local landscape. One was drilled in 1909 and the other in 1973; they reach depths of up to 130 metres.
