Veľký Cetín: Find hotels, discover cycling routes and culture

Veľký Cetín lies on the eastern bank of the Cetínka River. The village combines specific cycling routes with a church whose history dates back to the Middle Ages, as well as archaeological traces from various periods. The landscape is also tangible: the view extends in all directions, while the highest point between Veľký Cetín and Paňa lies among the vineyards.

A longer option is Route 2118 – the Dolné Krškany–Branč–Poľný Kesov–Cabaj–Čápor loop. This 43.1-kilometre-long, easy mountain biking route suitable for recreation runs over asphalt and surfaced paths. Route 2118 follows the Ponitrianska Cycle Route towards Veľký Cetín and then branches off there towards Branč.

In 1993, a memorial to local victims of the wars of the 20th century was erected in Veľký Cetín. The war memorial is located in a park-like area in front of the church on Kostolná ulica. It was created by the sculptor Nagy János.

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was originally Gothic and was built in 1307. It was rebuilt in 1692, and reconstructed again in 1911. Inside, the church has a baptismal font with a Renaissance base from the 16th century and a Baroque basin from the 18th century. It is in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose.
