Culture and History

The municipal museum of Kolíňany presents traditional folk architecture as well as local customs and traditions. Many folk songs from Kolíňany have become a highly valued part of the national cultural heritage. In addition, the village museum of Kolíňany has a rich collection presenting the full range of the municipality’s material culture. It therefore focuses on both traditional architectural forms and customs, songs and everyday objects from the municipality.

An important building is the Church of St. Stephen the King in Kolíňany. It is originally Romanesque and dates from the 12th century. In 1933, it was extended with a new nave and a presbytery. Inside the church is a Renaissance pulpit. Its architectural history thus combines the Romanesque origins of the house of worship with the clearly dated extension in the 20th century.

The cemetery in Kolíňany contains stone gravestones in the form of irregular slabs dating from the 11th to the 14th century.

Landscape

Kolíňanský vrch is a partly forested hill with panoramic views and belongs to the Zobor Group of the Tribeč Mountains. On its slopes and below Kolíňanský vrch are limestone quarries with fissures and karst cavities.

In the open areas of Kolíňanský vrch, remnants of original pastures with shrub-rich, thermophilic vegetation and rare protected flora have been preserved. From Kolíňany, Kolíňanský vrch can be reached via unmarked field paths.

Events

Kastrolfest is a festival focusing on local culinary specialities and traditions. The association Vinum de Colon and the municipality of Kolíňany invited visitors to the 53rd Kolíňany wine tasting on Saturday, 3 May 2025, from 4:00 p.m. at the Kolíňany Cultural Centre. The date specifies the weekday, date, start time and venue of the wine tasting.

The Kolon Race Junior obstacle course race is being prepared in Kolíňany for children and young people aged 6 to 18.

Kolíňany has a bus stop for public regional transport.
