In Lukáčovce, water, local history and traditional events come together. The various facets of the town range from the Lukáčovské rybníky and a children's event to archaeological traces, historic buildings, cycle paths and regionally influenced festivals.

Nature

The Lukáčovské rybníky are a water reservoir located southwest of Lukáčovce. The Šarkaniáda is held in its area as a recurring family event. The programme includes an adventure ride for children on balance bikes and bicycles around the pond. This means that the event focuses both on spending time by the water and on a shared activity on wheels.

Cycling

The 43-kilometre MTB/trekking circular route “Nitra – Zbehy – Lukáčovce (rybníky) – rozhľadňa Radošinka – Šurianky” passes through Lukáčovce. The route leads to Lukáčovce and continues via the area around the Kaštieľ to the ponds. Its course connects the places mentioned, the area around the Kaštieľ and the Lukáčovské rybníky within a circular route.

History

The archaeological finds in Lukáčovce range from the Neolithic Lengyel culture through the Eneolithic and the Early Bronze Age to the period of Great Moravia. Historic buildings include Kaštieľ Lukáčovce, a small fortified castle with a regular square ground plan and slightly projecting square corner towers. It was built in the second half of the 15th century and converted from Gothic to Renaissance style at the beginning of the 17th century.

The Church of St. John of Nepomuk was built in the Baroque style from 1780 to 1792. It is in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose. The hill-shaped Lukáčovský hrádok, the remains of a defensive structure, lies by the cemetery. It has been professionally examined and documented. Its archaeological dating places its origins no later than the 13th century and its destruction in the 15th century.

Traditions

After several years, the municipality of Lukáčovce prepared the revival of the traditional harvest festival Dožinky. The planned accompanying programme in Lukáčovce was to include demonstrations by beekeepers, a hunting association and local farmers about traditional rural life and work connected with nature and agriculture. The planned Dožinky programme was also to combine folklore, music and traditions.

Cuisine

The Guláš Cup is also among the events mentioned in Lukáčovce. It is a competition in cooking goulash in a kettle and had a seven-year tradition. Thus, the focus of this competition is not a general gastronomic offering, but specifically the preparation of goulash in a kettle and the event tradition that has continued over time.
