In Okoličná Na Ostrove, the visible architectural history begins with the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Augustine. It was built in 1816 on the site of an older, probably Romanesque church and extended in 1830. Inside is a marble baptismal font with a repoussé copper cover in Baroque-Classical forms dating from the 1830s. The gallery contains an organ made by the Viktor Moszny company from Bratislava in the second half of the 19th century.

Culture

The Reformed Church was built between 1801 and 1804 in the Classical style. On Žitný ostrov, it is considered the largest Calvinist church. Its surviving furnishings include a Gothic chalice from the 15th century, which was later remodelled in 1618. History

The manor houses add buildings from several centuries to this historical sequence: The Erdélyi family manor house was built in the 1860s next to Zoltán Erdélyi’s vineyard in the Neoclassical style. The Csorba family manor house was built around the middle of the 18th century, extended in the middle of the 19th century and remodelled in the Classical style. The Csontos family manor house was built at the beginning of the 19th century; the Hungarian writer Mór Jókai lived there several times during his youth.

Nature

Okoličná na Ostrove is among the cadastral areas listed for the protected Ostrovné lúky Natura 2000 site. The open lowland landscape of Ostrovné lúky is an important habitat for the breeding and survival of the red-footed falcon (Falco vespertinus). The steppe, forest-steppe and agricultural landscape of Ostrovné lúky also provides suitable habitat for the lesser grey shrike (Lanius minor) and the tawny pipit (Anthus campestris).
