Nature

The Predajnianske Waterfalls are an 11.70-hectare natural monument protecting cascading waterfalls, rock fields, and preserved plant and animal communities of the submontane zone. Predajná lies in the valley of the Jasenský Stream. The municipality is surrounded by the Low Tatras to the north and the Slovak Ore Mountains to the south. Part of Predajná’s northern outskirts lies in the protected zone of the Low Tatras National Park, while the southern part lies in the protected zone of the Poľana Protected Landscape Area.

Predajnianska Slatina is also an 11.35-hectare nature reserve protecting wetland communities with protected and endangered plant and animal species. Jajkovská Sutina is a 50.91-hectare natural monument protecting naturally formed rock screes in the Slovak Ore Mountains. Within the Predajnianske Waterfalls protected area lies Kelemenov Tunnel, a technical monument considered to be the only tunnel in Central Europe located on a forest road.

Culture and Faith

The present-day church in Predajná was built between 1605 and 1612 in the Late Gothic style. On Hrádok Hill, the Predajná Calvary was established with a church and four chapels; the church and chapels were consecrated in 1873.

The Predajná watermill with a millrace, a national cultural monument, stands on Bečov Road. It has technical mill equipment that is particularly rare in Slovakia in such a completely preserved condition.

Trails and Events

A marked trail leads through the Predajnianske Čelno valley to the Predajnianske Waterfalls. On 15 September, the Calvary becomes the site of the parish’s largest indulgence festival; pilgrims from the surrounding parishes attend this celebration. Since the 1950s, Hrb has been climbed regularly; in the late 1990s, this tradition developed into a larger public event. The Predajná Biathlon Club organizes biathlon sporting events at the Šimáň shooting range in Predajná.
