Závadka nad Hronom is a starting point for marked hiking trails. This is particularly evident in the Stožky Educational Trail, which begins in the municipality. The trail is 13.5 km long, takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes, and has an elevation difference of 150 m. It is intended for pedestrians.

Nature

The Stožky Educational Trail includes Veľká Stožka, a 260-hectare national nature reserve with rock towers, overhangs, caves, gorges and palaeontological sites. Malá Stožka is also located along the educational trail. This national nature reserve is characterized by calcicolous rock communities on dolomitic limestone, as well as rare plant and animal species. Along the route, geological formations, protected landscape areas and distinctive biological communities come together.

Another special place is the restored railway carriage at Pätina. It serves tourists as a historical reminder, shelter from bad weather and emergency accommodation for overnight stays.

Culture

The late Baroque Church of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the village. It is a cultural monument dating from 1784 and was renovated in 1932. Its main altar contains a painting by Andrej Zallinger created in 1786. An alpine garden with a pond, rare plants and woody plants adorns the entrance slope of the church.

The municipal museum presents local domestic culture in Závadka nad Hronom from the period before the Second World War, around the 1930s. The municipal museum building and its garden are designated as a national cultural monument; the museum is housed in a traditional wooden house dating from 1921. In addition, the village's typical houses reflect building methods from the end of the 18th century and throughout the 19th century: they were two- or three-room log houses with gabled roofs covered with shingles.

Traditions

The local folklore group Závačan contributes to preserving the municipality's traditional folk customs. In February, a carnival procession with masks goes from house to house in Závadka nad Hronom and wishes people a good harvest. The municipality itself also keeps a traditional event alive: it revived the tradition of the Katarínsky jarmok and organizes it.

The local cuisine includes opekance with bryndza or poppy seeds. They are still considered a traditional local dish in Závadka nad Hronom today.

Leisure

Závadka nad Hronom offers the public a heated indoor swimming pool measuring 6 × 25 m with three swimming lanes. The indoor pool complex also includes a dry sauna for 15 to 20 people.

When choosing a hotel in Závadka nad Hronom, travelers can take the village's different attractions into account.
