Nature

Kesovce lies on the eastern edge of the Rimavská kotlina Basin, at the foot of the eastern part of the Cerová vrchovina Mountains and in the valley of a tributary of the Slaná. The elevation of the municipality ranges from 183 to 388 metres; the village centre is situated at 197 metres.

The cadastral area of Kesovce consists predominantly of treeless hills. There are pronounced terraces in the west, while the east contains remnants of thermophilous Turkey oak forests and oak-hornbeam forests. An unusual Italian oak (Quercus virgiliana) also grows in the vicinity of Kesovce. A rare long-leaved woodland hyacinth (Cephalanthera longifolia) grows beneath the spreading crown of this oak.

Culture

The ruins of a Reformed church are located in Kesovce. The building was a single-nave Classicist structure with a segmental termination of the presbytery and an attached tower dating from 1859. The ruins are currently abandoned; the nave has no roof. This combination of architectural form, date and present condition is precisely one of the village’s specific historical characteristics.

In 2024, Kesovce held a celebration to mark the opening of its bell tower. Detský deň is a traditional event in Kesovce and took place on 3 June 2026.

Transport

Public transport in Kesovce is provided by buses operated by SAD Lučenec. As part of local improvements, a new bus stop was also built in Kesovce.
