Culture

The historic buildings include the Vietoris family mausoleum. It was built at the beginning of the 19th century by Ladislav Vietoris Sr. and was designated an immovable national cultural monument in 2017. The mausoleum lies at the foot of Hôrka Hill. The Church of the Holy Trinity and its grounds are also located on this hill, so both sites are situated in a clearly defined spatial context.

The parish Church of the Holy Trinity is a protected single-nave Renaissance church dating from 1627. Its floor plan is rectangular and ends in a semicircle. In the 18th century, the church was extended by a presbytery and given a Baroque makeover. Its interior includes a late Baroque painting of the Holy Trinity from the 18th century.

Horovce Castle is also a protected Renaissance monument. It dates from around the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries and developed from a tower-like fortress that was converted into a castle. Horovce therefore represents different building functions and stages of development: a family mausoleum, a sacred church and a castle complex that evolved from a fortress.

Nature

Another precisely measurable feature is the Slovak national coat of arms planted from living trees in Horovce. It covers 9.9 hectares. The coat of arms consists of more than 62,000 trees from 100 species. The 2,222-metre-long educational trail surrounds the coat of arms made from living trees and was opened on 10 September 2023.
