Nimnica: Wellness Centre, Reservoir and Trails to Holíš

Nimnica is particularly shaped by Kúpele Nimnica: The medical wellness centre open to the public lies at the foot of a spur of the Javorníky Mountains and directly above the Nosická vodná nádrž reservoir. This brings together a healing spring, a water landscape and trails into the surrounding area in one place. The natural healing spring at Kúpele Nimnica provides highly mineralised, carbonated, hydrogen carbonate-sodium and iodine-rich water.

The public wellness centre includes a swimming pool as well as Finnish, herbal steam, salt steam and infrared saunas. Trails and Getting There

The easiest way to reach Kúpele Nimnica is stated to be by train to Púchov. Almost all express trains on the Bratislava–Žilina route stop in Púchov; from there, continue from the station by regional bus or taxi. The ascent to Holíš leads from the church via Kúpele Nimnica to Holíš and to the meadow below Holíš. The 42nd New Year’s ascent to Holíš was also announced as an event in Nimnica.

Cycling Route

For cyclists, the “Kúpele Nimnica–Malý Javorník” route begins at the “Nimnica, kúpele” signpost near Kúpele Nimnica. It follows the red-marked Vážska cycling route past the reservoir and harbour. At the next junction of the cycling route, there is a hiking shelter, several rest areas, an outdoor fitness area and a drinking-water spring.

Events

The local events calendar includes “Nimnická gulášovica”, a goulash-cooking competition. The fourth edition was scheduled for 15 August 2026 from 13:30 to 23:59 in Nimnica. “Nimnický vianočný jarmok” is a recurring Christmas market in Nimnica. The edition on 13 December 2025 at 12:00 was combined with the third edition of a Kapustnica-cooking competition.

Nature

The occurrence of a brown bear was reported in the cadastral area of Nimnica. Increased caution is especially advised in the morning and evening in forested and adjoining areas.
