History

The Vtáčnik mountain range, part of which lies within the Prievidza District, is characterised by beech stands as well as mixed beech and fir stands. In the Prievidza District, information panels are located along hiking trails, on forest roads in use, on peaks in nature reserves, near monuments, and in protected areas of upper Ponitrie, including the Vtáčnik area.
The Fraňo Madva educational trail provides information about the region's fauna, flora and geology, as well as the life and work of Fraňo Madva. The trail is 12 kilometres long and has an elevation gain of 600 metres.
